The Majesty of God

“O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” -Psalm 8:1

The earth must not be seen as the end in itself, but rather as a means to an end. The earth, sea, sky, trees, birds, and indeed everything that the majestic Creator has made ought to be considered as a window by which we look through to see the grandeur of God.

Do we say only: What a glorious mountain! No. As C.S. Lewis has said, “follow the sunbeam back to the sun.” We view the mountain as that which points to the power and faithfulness of God! As a mountain is immovable, so our God is immovable! This is but one example. This grandeur of God is not only seen in the mountains, but as the Psalmist proclaimed, “all the earth!” If you gaze upon the created order, you are gazing upon the window to the majesty of God. Does your heart lack seeing this? Pray for God to open the eyes of your heart.

  1. The best is definitely yet to be 🙂 This thought brings such great joy when the struggles of life cloud my vision of the mountaintop!

  2. Excellent thoughts.

Thank you for the reminder to experience God’s majesty in every blade of grass, every gentle breeze, every winter chill, every rock in the river. Amen… may the pride that blinds my heart from this reality be forever overcome by the grace of my Savior-King.

Thank you for posting this brother.
